SECL has registered a record-breaking performance in the first half of FY 23-24 (April ’23 – September ’23) with coal production of 77.78 million tonnes. In the recently concluded month of September, the company has achieved coal production of about 11.14 million tonnes. This is the highest ever coal production in any month of September and in any first half of the financial year since the inception of the company. While the company has registered an increase of 14.34 million tonnes (22.6%) compared to the first half of the last financial year 22-23, the company produced about 2 million tonnes (21.60%) more coal in the last month as compared to September 2022.
If we talk about over burden (OB) removal, the company did the highest ever OB removal of 151.28 MCuM in the first half of the current financial year. OBR saw an increase of 46.51 (44.39%) MCuM as compared to first half of the last financial year. The company has created a new OBR record for any September month with 20.33 MCuM OBR. In September last year, the company had done 15.46 MCuM OBR and thus in the month of September, the company has registered an increase of 31.47% in OBR.
